In the past 5 days in OBS, there is no doubt that i’ve learnt many new things. For example, Tent pitching, outdoor cooking with solid fuel and many others. i’ve also made a huge bunch of new friends from PRSS, YISS and CHS. Nice people i must say, okay maybe for a few exceptions. Haha. Not to forget, i have experienced many things others wouldn’t have. Like Kayaking round the whole pulau ubin, peeing in the sea, capsizing twice, not bathing for one day after kayaking and land expedition with at least 15kg haversack. & OBS made me realise how technology changed us. We had a ‘back to basic’ theory in OBS, but of course i still had my handphone with me. But only used it at night. And the people in the camp are the only reason i want to stay at OBS for 5 days. I remembered how i told gay i wanted to go home on Day 1 of OBS. But i glad i didn’t.
Day 1: Bus-ed to Punggol in the bus that school provided. Saw my group member’s there for the first time. I remembered how i tried to be friendly and waved to everyone in my group, PRSS and YISS was okay. But CHS dao-ed me! Haha ohwells. First day was more on administrative stuff and learning how to pitch tents and stuff.Omg, i h8 tent pitching, i’m damn good at eyepowering during tent pitching. I know how much my eyepower helped the rest with the tent pitching. I’m also such a good lamp post. Had lunch provided at the cookhouse while dinner was outdoor cooking. After dinner head to our sleeping area which was pretty far away and it started raining, how nice.Weather was pretty humid so i took off my shirt and slept, hehehe. No bites cos i spam our tent with insect repellent (:
Day 2: Woke up, unpitch our tents. Did high elements and got myself a ropeburn :/ Then went for Kayaking lessons, after that we head over to our campsite to sleeep. And there is when the horror of the sandflies started. Fucking annoying. Spammed myself with insect repellent but i guess the sandflies are immune to the repellent cos i had so many bites.Went to pitch our tents and i worked my eyepower again (: Cooked and had our dinner in the dark. Then powder bathed ourselves cos we didn’t get to bathe. I didn’t know powder bathe can be so shiok (: Hahaha. Woke up at 2 to do sentry duties. Only me, alicia and the boys woke up to do it, but in the end, we sat outside our tents and chewed on our happy snacks ^^ After awhile it started to rain so we went back to our tents and soon we fell asleeep.
Day 3: Woke up, unpitch our tents again. And launched off for our sea expedition. Kayaking was fun, okay but excluding the part where i capsized twice, leg was feeling so sore and i was having high tide and wanted to pee so badly!!!!!!! Other than those mentioned, everything was good cos WeiJian was sweeper at first so it was pretty slack cos we had to stop and wait for people so many times. Kayaked round the whole Pulau Ubin to the Campsite, where we will be sleeping. So glad that there was a proper toilet for us to bathe in. Pitch tent, bathed and started cooking. While cooking halfway, it had to rain. Brought our food and up to shelter and continued coooking. The whole time i felt like i was still swaying on the kayak. Oh yeah and the consequences of geikiang not to put sunburnt resulted to really bad sunburn!
Day 4: Had land expedition which made me on the verge of dying!!!! Carried a around 15kg haversack and hiked. I don’t know how the rest did it, but me and alicia were hunchback of notre dame. The bag was so shingz-ing heavy that i couldn’t even stand up straight. Went from checkpoints to checkpoints and finally back to our campsite. Felt like i was flying when the haversack was off me. After debrief, me and alicia were so exhausted that we just sat there and not move. Bathed in the guys toilet and we’re off for dinner. That night, dinner was da bombz, Had fried rice and many other food. Me, alicia and the guys shared a pot of rice mixed with peanuts, sardines, baked beans, spicy ikan bilis, tuna and luncheon meat. Taste a little weird, but was still edible! That night, we slept at MPH, yay no more pitching tents.
Day 5: DAY 5 WAS THE DAY I TURNED INTO A MUSCLE WOMAN! I managed to carry jerry can filled with 7/8 of water in it up to wash the ponchos *GRINS* Packed up the store and had one last activity before we left for punggol ):
AND NOW I AM HOME MISSING OBS, sighhhhhh.
